Southern Adelaide Local Health Network is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic geriatric team at Noarlunga Hospital.

About the role: 

This role is part of our Geriatric Evaluation and Management Team and reports to the Director Occupational Therapy and GEM Allied Health Manager. You'll work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive occupational therapy services, helping patients achieve their maximum functional independence and quality of life.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Assessing patients’ occupational abilities, problems and needs using a variety of formal and informal assessments,
  • Participating in interdisciplinary clinical and planning activities to enhance the overall service provided to patients,
  • Communicating with patient family, carers and service providers and linking patients with relevant community resources and services,
  • Devising patient programs and behavioural support plans,
  • Assisting in supervision of AHP1 therapists and Allied Health Assistants,
  • Undertaking Occupational Therapy projects, especially those related to Rehabilitation, Aged Care and Palliative Care Division
  • Assisting in the development of strategies, procedures, protocols for provision of Occupational Therapy interventions

About you:

  • A degree or other qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia,
  • Experience as a clinician in the assessment and provision of high-quality Occupational Therapy services to clients with a variety of conditions requiring management of issues associated with cognitive impairment and/or changed behaviours as a result of dementia and behavioural support planning,
  • Ability to critically analyse or evaluate issues related to Occupational Therapy care in a manner which can be applied to quality activities, service evaluation, professional education or research with a commitment to ongoing professional development,
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining high standards of Occupational Therapy intervention,
