About the role: 

Reporting to the Head of Unit, this role is responsible for providing clinical services in obstetric medicine of the highest possible standard to patients of Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) and Noarlunga Health Services (NHS) both in terms of individual performance and by contributing to a multi-disciplinary approach to the delivery of patient care.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Ensuring that the examination and history cover the presenting complaining and broad enough to uncover other problems that may exist,
  • Ensuring that this assessment provides a working diagnosis and justifies the need for any investigations which may be ordered,
  • Undertaking a comprehensive assessment that provides guidance for the management, investigation and ongoing treatment of the patient,
  • Participating actively and regularly in unit based and hospital wide training and educational sessions, both scheduled and opportunistic,
  • Providing an effective and accurate clinical handover of patient care to the referring or treating team

About you:

  • Basic Medical Degree BMBS or equivalent,
  • Registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner,
  • Successfully completed Part 1 of the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) examination,
  • Clinical experience and competence in the practice of medical obstetrics as expected for level of training

As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12-month allocation as Advanced Trainee will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills, and capabilities.
