About the role

As the Nurse Unit Manager, you will leverage your clinical expertise to provide pivotal coordination and oversight of patient care delivery within your designated unit. You will be responsible for leading and managing nursing and multidisciplinary team activities, ensuring seamless continuity of care and the highest quality outcomes for patients and clients. Your day-to-day leadership will drive operational excellence, guide staff, and foster a culture of clinical best practice.

In this key leadership position, you will be accountable for the standards of nursing practice and multidisciplinary outcomes within your unit. You will address inconsistencies between practice and policy, develop team performance, and cultivate a positive and supportive work environment. Your focus on patient-centred care, effective line management, and continuous improvement will be essential in achieving exceptional results across our health service.

About You

You are an experienced and registered nurse with strong leadership skills and a commitment to person-centred care, ready to lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team.

  • Qualifications & Registration
    Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, holding or eligible to hold a current practising certificate.

  • Leadership & Teamwork
    Proven leadership ability with advanced communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Experience & Clinical Competence
    At least three years of post-registration nursing experience, demonstrated clinical competence, management and leadership experience, and the ability to supervise and mentor staff.

  • Knowledge & Innovation
    Sound understanding of relevant legislation, standards, codes, and contemporary nursing issues, with a capacity for flexibility, creativity, and leading change and consumer engagement initiatives.
