The RNBU (Repat Neuro-Behavioural Unit) has an exciting opportunity for a new Senior Clinical Psychologist to join the team. 

The RNBU provides relationship-centred care to consumers living with dementia, who experience severe levels of behavioural and psychological symptoms. The care model places the person at the centre of individualised care including strong engagement with carers and loved ones, both upon entry into the Unit and throughout the consumer journey.

About the role: 

As the Psychologist, some of your duties may involve:

  • Providing evidence-based psychological intervention, assessment, treatment and care planning to consumers at the RNBU.
  • Supporting and advising the multidisciplinary team. 
  • Performing functional analysis of consumer behaviours to formulate management plans that will advise multidisciplinary staff in their support of consumers. 
  • Designing and implementing intervention programs. 
  • Monitoring and evaluating the progress and outcomes of interventions.
  • Communication and liaising with the consumer's family and carers. 
  • Referring to and liaising with relevant community resources and services. 

About you:

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and general registration with PsyBA and an endorsed area of practice in Clinical Psychology,
  • Hold or willingness to obtain approved supervisor status with the PsyBA at all levels of supervision,
  • High-level of competence in designing and implementing evidence-based psychological interventions and treatments including individual psychological therapy and group therapy work,
  • Experience in working with older persons and consumers living with dementia.
