About the role

As a Pre-Analytical Operational Services Officer, you’ll play a vital role in supporting patients and healthcare teams by ensuring specimens are collected, managed and processed with the highest standards of care. Your day will be diverse and rewarding, from greeting patients and performing phlebotomy to preparing and transporting specimens under strict conditions. You’ll use your attention to detail and strong computer skills to enter and manage patient information accurately, ensuring timely and reliable results that make a real difference to patient diagnosis and treatment.

About You

You will bring energy, professionalism and a genuine commitment to providing quality patient care and service. With strong technical knowledge and a collaborative approach, you’ll thrive in a busy environment where attention to detail and teamwork are key.

  • Proven experience in pathology specimen collection or laboratory services (minimum 2 years), with a sound understanding of NATA standards, confidentiality, Work Health and Safety, and infection control practices.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to support patients, respond to enquiries and build effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Strong technical and organisational skills, including demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, computer literacy and knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems.

  • A proactive and reliable work ethic, with the ability to prioritise, adapt to high throughput environments, maintain consistent attendance and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
