Service:
Community Mental Health Team
Our Community Mental Health Teams, based in Port Augusta and Whyalla, provide specialised care to promote mental, emotional, physical, and social wellbeing. Services include one-to-one counselling, group programs, care coordination, and health promotion activities designed to support adults, families, and carers affected by mental health challenges. We offer information, education, counselling, and ongoing support, with specialist clinicians for youth mental health and access to older persons mental health services.
Living and Working in the Flinders and Upper North Region - Whyalla
About the Role:
As a Mental Health Clinician, you will contribute to the Older Persons Mental Health portfolio, a specialised service focused on improving care pathways and access to specialist support for older adults. You will play a key role in streamlining service delivery and supporting the management of psychiatric illness in older persons across the Local Health Network.
In this role, you will assist in coordinating telepsychiatry consultations and inpatient admissions, while providing clinical advice, education and contributing to workforce development initiatives. Working within a collaborative environment, you will support the delivery of responsive, high-quality mental health services for older adults.

About You:
RN/M2C
- You must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold, or be eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
- Must hold a relevant postgraduate qualification in Mental Health practice.
RN/M1
- You must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold, or be eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
- Must be enrolled and/or willing to enrol in further postgraduate studies within Mental Health practice.
AHP1/2
- Must hold a recognised qualification and be eligible for registration in Australia:
- Psychologist – General registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) OR
- Occupational Therapist – Registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia OR
- Social Worker – Eligibility for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
Immunisation Risk for this position is - Category A (direct contact with blood or body substances)
