WHAT ARE WE OFFERING?

We are offering an exciting opportunity to join the Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) team at Kangaroo Island Health Service. In this role, you will provide high-quality, person-centred midwifery care, supporting women through pregnancy, labour, birth, and the postnatal period within a small MGP team. This model of care promotes continuity, allowing you to develop strong relationships with women by sharing a caseload and providing 24/7 support in a collaborative and supportive environment.

As part of the Midwifery Group Practice at Kangaroo Island, you will deliver personalised, woman-centred care, working closely with a small team of midwives who share responsibilities and provide comprehensive support. This approach empowers women to make informed choices and ensures safe, evidence-based care that enhances outcomes for mothers and babies. You will work collaboratively with other health professionals to provide seamless care throughout the maternity journey.

HOW WILL YOU CONTRIBUTE?

  • Provide proficient, person-centred clinical midwifery care and individual case management to women within the MGP model.
  • Collaborate with the MGP team to share caseloads, support 24/7 on-call rotations, and ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in clinical teaching, mentoring students and less experienced staff to foster professional development.
  • Assist in quality improvement, research, and clinical governance activities to maintain best practice standards.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED TO KNOW/WHAT IS ESSENTIAL FOR SUCCESS?

  • You will need to be immunised. Please contact the Enquiries Person for this position if you have any queries.  Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy. Further information is in the application for to help guide you. 
  • You will need to undergo employment screening, what you require is also on the front page of the Role Description.
  • You will be required to hold registration with AHPRA to practice as a Registered Midwife or Nurse/Midwife within our organisation
