Join our Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit Team as an Occupational Therapist!

We’re looking for a dynamic Occupational Therapist to join our forward-thinking Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit (MHRU) team at Noarlunga.

This is your chance to bring creativity and innovation to practice through a variety of Occupational Therapy approaches including cognitive interventions, sensory modulation, vocational support, functional skill-building, or re-engaging individuals in meaningful roles and routines. You’ll work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment where your ideas are valued, and evidence-based approaches are applied in clinical practice. 

About the role: 

Duties for the role will include:

  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating a range of Occupational Therapy interventions that are relevant to the needs of the consumer.
  • Undertaking specialised Occupational Therapy assessment to inform rehabilitation planning.
  • Supporting consumers to develop living skills to support community tenure. 
  • Providing direction to rehabilitation support workers and supervision to OT students.

About you:

  • An appropriate degree or equivalent qualification that allows for full registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Extensive experience in engaging consumers in therapeutic working relationships, particularly those with enduring and severe disabilities and complex needs, as well as their carers.
  • Competence in comprehensive mental health assessment skills, including consumer needs analysis, mental state assessment, and risk assessment.
  • The ability to work collaboratively and cohesively with consumers, carers, other agencies, community services, and the multidisciplinary team to develop an integrated rehabilitation plan.
