About the role

As an Operational Services Officer, you will play an important part in supporting the delivery of accurate and timely laboratory services. Working under general direction, you will apply your practical skills and knowledge across a range of responsibilities that keep the laboratory running smoothly. From venepuncture and specimen collection through to courier runs, sorting, accessioning, and data entry, your contribution will ensure specimens are handled with care and precision according to established protocols.

In this role, you’ll also be the first point of contact for both internal and external customers, responding to enquiries with professionalism and empathy. Whether assisting with preparatory duties, supporting the storage and transport of specimens, or liaising across teams, you’ll help maintain efficient workflows and positive client interactions. About You

  • Teamwork and Communication – Proven ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and communicate clearly with staff and a wide range of clients.

  • Attention to Detail – Demonstrated accuracy, initiative, and the capacity to produce a consistently high standard of work while meeting strict deadlines.

  • Technical and Computer Skills – Ability to use laboratory information systems, databases, and associated software, with knowledge of pathology laboratory operations.

  • Customer Service and Problem Solving – Experience handling enquiries in a professional manner, showing commitment to service excellence and escalating issues appropriately.
