We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Occupational Therapist to join our Division of Rehabilitation, Aged Care and Palliative Care Team and make a meaningful impact on the quality of life of our older patients!

Role may be located at either Noarlunga Hospital or Repat Health Precinct. 

About the role: 

Working as the Senior Occupational Therapist, you will report to the Allied Health Manager GEM and Director Occupational Therapy and be responsible for the coordination and provision of comprehensive Occupational Therapy services to patients in the GEM unit. You will support other members of the team and liaise with other health professionals, service providers and the community.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Provide specialised clinical Occupational Therapy services to maximise occupational outcomes of patients with a diagnosis of dementia and cognitive impairment, including responsive behaviours
  • Taking a leadership role in all aspects of Occupational Therapy team function, and promote and support the inter-disciplinary approach in the unit
  • Working collaboratively as part of the GEM Leadership team within a fast paced and dynamic health environment. 
  • Collaborating and documenting with team members to initiate, develop, implement and evaluate therapy/activity groups

About you:

  • High levels of responsibility and organisational skills including the ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines, delegate appropriately.  This includes the ability to supervise students, allied health assistants and junior staff
  • Broad experience and clinical expertise in the provision of clinical Occupational Therapy services (assessment and treatment) to clients with a range of disorders and disabilities, in particular clients with complex needs and the older person including those with cognitive impairment or a diagnosis of dementia
  • A degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical management and leadership within a discrete unit, including program evaluation and service development
  • Ability to manage and adapt to change in a positive manner
