About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Consumer and Community Engagement team as Shops Supervisor, where you will be responsible for:

  • Supervising and supporting a team of dedicated volunteers, delivering hands on training and fostering a positive, inclusive, and service focused team culture.
  • Coordinating all aspects of day-to-day operations across two volunteer run hospital shops, including food prep, coffee service, cleaning, and point-of-sale activities.
  • Maintaining high standards in hygiene, food handling, and service presentation, ensuring compliance with the Food Safety Plan and standard procedures.
  • Promoting a warm, responsive customer experience, while addressing issues professionally and efficiently to support a high-quality service environment.
  • Collaborating with management, the Shops Coordinator and volunteer team leaders to improve systems, implement safe practices, and support fundraising efforts that directly benefit the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven ability to lead teams, supervise staff or volunteers, and manage task allocation in a food service or café environment.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in espresso coffee making, food preparation, and quality control within a fast-paced retail or hospitality setting.
  • Skilled in providing clear instructions and on-the-job training, with strong interpersonal and communication skills to support a diverse volunteer team.
  • Sound understanding of food safety legislation (e.g. SA Food Safety Act 2000) and standards, with relevant food safety training.
  • Excellent time management, rostering, and problem-solving skills to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Competent in basic computer use and point-of-sale systems relevant to a retail food environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations (HACCP), workplace health and safety policies, and volunteer/staff management principles.
