Elevate Your Career: Speech Pathology Position with SALHN

This rewarding position involves working primarily with an adult inpatient caseload, rotating across various acute units within the Flinders Medical Centre, including the Stroke Unit, Neurosurgical Unit, and acute medical units and may include working at Noarlunga Hospital.  Additionally, you will contribute to a range of speech pathology services, including consultancy, assessment, therapeutic intervention, education, applied clinical research, and student supervision or teaching.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Manager of Speech Pathology and Senior Speech Pathologists, some of your duties as the AHP1 Speech Pathologist may involve: 

  • Obtaining detailed case history information. 
  • Observing client behaviour and interaction. 
  • Analysing swallowing and/or communication assessment results to determine current level of functioning.
  • Maintaining professional records in accordance with departmental and hospital guidelines. 

About you:

  • Appropriate degree in Speech Pathology or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Speech Pathology Association of Australia. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and written) with patients, families and staff with demonstrated understanding of how our interactions impact other people within the workplace. 
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, recognise workload pressures within the department and offer support.
