Join Southern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Team Manager/NUM and lead transformational mental health rehabilitation services at the Trevor Parry Centre. About the role: 

Reporting to the Allied Health and Rehabilitation Stream Director, this role is responsible for leading the provision of recovery oriented, trauma informed and human rights-based rehabilitation services within a multi-disciplinary environment. You will also establish, maintain and foster effective linkages with other mental health and social care services, public and NGOs to facilitate the successful transition of residents to their community and supports of choice. The Nurse Unit Manager/Team Manager has line management responsibility of the TPC staff and will be responsible for the development of the service in conjunction with the Allied Health and Rehabilitation Stream Director, SALHN.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Provide the pivotal leadership and co-ordination of consumer care delivery in the service to achieve continuity and quality of consumer care and outcomes and efficient patient/client flow,
  • Use available information systems: to inform decision making, to implement and co-ordinate processes for quality improvement, to monitor and analyse incidents and accidents, to ensure quality and safety is not compromised, to evaluate outcomes and convey information to staff,
  • Implement and co-ordinate within span of control, processes for quality improvement and continuity within corporate risk management and nursing professional practice frameworks,
  • Ensure that service provision and the activities of the Division are consumer focussed and professionally and effectively conducted by contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of business partners and external clients

About you:

  • RN3: Registered as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds a current practicing certificate. Must be enrolled in an approved mental health course or hold a qualification in mental health practice,
  • AHP4: Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and general registration with PsyBA or Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia or
  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers,
  • Appropriate Allied Health Professional degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the relevant discipline Australian Registration Board or Association
  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills,
  • Demonstrated ability in the leadership and facilitation of change management and the ability to exercise and engage in effective and proactive change management behaviours,
  • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years post registration experience,
  • Experience in management and leadership roles in a range of mental health service settings,
  • Experience in the supervision of students, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses and in managing a multi-disciplinary team
