About the Role

The Senior Project Officer - Rural Health Workforce Strategy plays a pivotal role in strengthening the rural health workforce across South Australia. Working within the Rural Support Service and in partnership with regional Local Health Networks, this position contributes to the planning, development, and delivery of strategic projects that support sustainable health services in rural and remote communities. The role requires strategic thinking, strong stakeholder engagement, and the ability to manage complex, large-scale projects that drive meaningful outcomes for the rural health workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the design, implementation, and evaluation of projects under the Rural Health Workforce Strategy.
  • Critically analyse complex workforce and service planning issues, providing expert advice and innovative solutions.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams, government agencies, health services, and external partners.
  • Ensure delivery of project milestones, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives to achieve strategy outcomes.

Who Are We Looking For?

  • A skilled project professional with experience in project management, health service planning or workforce planning, and proven ability to deliver results in complex environments.
  • A strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to analyse complex problems, manage change, and develop innovative, evidence-based solutions.
  • Strong communicator with excellent stakeholder engagement skills, including experience working with Aboriginal consumers and communities in a culturally appropriate manner.
  • A collaborative team member with the ability to work autonomously, handle politically sensitive issues, and deliver high-quality written and oral reports.

About RSS

The RSS is a business unit in SA Health and provides services throughout regional South Australia to support the six regional local health networks (LHNs). It employs around 260 people who work in 37 regional, rural and remote SA locations, or in the RSS’s three Adelaide offices.
