About the role

As a Senior Specialist Sonographer, you will play a pivotal role in advancing clinical excellence, research, and innovation within the Ultrasound Department. Working both independently and as part of a highly skilled team, you will contribute to the ongoing development of ultrasound practice through your advanced expertise, research leadership, and academic achievements. This position provides the opportunity to influence and elevate departmental standards, ensuring the highest quality of diagnostic imaging and patient care.

You will lead and participate in complex and pioneering research programs that shape the future of ultrasound services and clinical practice. Your work will support the establishment and refinement of new standards, guidelines, and methodologies, enhancing both clinical outcomes and the department’s reputation for innovation and excellence. About You

You are an accomplished and forward-thinking Senior Specialist Sonographer with a passion for clinical excellence, innovation, and advancing the field of ultrasound practice. With strong leadership, research, and communication skills, you excel in both independent and collaborative environments—driving service quality, mentoring others, and contributing to high-level research and education initiatives. You take pride in your professional responsibility, technical expertise, and commitment to continuous improvement.

In this role, you will bring:

  • Professional Qualifications & Accreditation
    Current registration with the Australasian Sonographers Accreditation Registry (ASAR) and a recognised postgraduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound (or equivalent).

  • Leadership & Collaboration
    Proven ability to lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams, provide professional direction, and coordinate complex departmental workflows to achieve service excellence.

  • Clinical & Research Expertise
    Extensive experience performing standard and advanced ultrasound procedures, supported by research publications, presentations, and a commitment to innovation and continuous professional development.

  • Communication & Problem-Solving Skills
    Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, strong initiative in resolving complex issues, and the capacity to engage effectively with patients, clinicians, and staff across all levels.

South Australia Medical Imaging (SAMI) at the Repat is part of the largest public imaging provider in Australia! With a full range of diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional imaging services provided by a multidisciplinary team, SA Medical Imaging provides care to public and private inpatients, outpatients and emergency department patients.
