The Senior Occupational Therapist is an experienced clinician who applies specialised expertise to the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of quality Occupational Therapy assessments, interventions and consultancy service to the team.

About the role: 

Employees classified at this level are experts within their area and stream of practice and have a significant degree of autonomy and decision making.
Duties for the role will include:

  • Planning, developing, and implementing OT services that focus on enhancing the consumer’s capacity to self-manage their illness in collaboration with consumers, their families or carers and other key stakeholders.
  • Working under limited direction, accepting professional responsibility for a high standard of complex, specialised or strategically significant work.
  • Providing clinical leadership to the team to incorporate recovery focussed clinical psychosocial and contemporary approaches / models into practice.
  • Developing and regularly reviewing support plans in collaboration with consumers and carers, including consumers with complex presentation

About you:

  • High level of competence in the provision of a range of mental health occupational therapy assessments, evidence-based therapeutic interventions and skills including individual and group work.
  • Advanced skills in Occupational Therapy report writing including proven ability to adapt report documentation for a variety of purposes and audiences.
  • Advanced skills in individualised planning and coordinating comprehensive service provision and crisis intervention with consumers who have high or complex mental health needs.
  • Clinical experience in the provision of evidence based mental health Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions.
  • Advanced skills in undertaking a comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessment, including mental state and risk assessments of consumers presenting with high or complex needs.
