Join our Dietetics and Nutrition Team

The Senior Dietitian is an experienced clinician responsible for developing, co-ordinating, implementing, and evaluating a high quality, clinical dietetic service for consumers within Acute Mental Health Services.

About the role: 

The Senior Dietitian is accountable for their own practice standards; activities delegated to others; the supervision and development of less experienced staff; and will provide teaching and supervision to junior staff, and students.
Duties for the role will include:

  • Provide leadership in the provision of Dietetic Services to Acute Mental Health patients across SALHN sites
  • Initiate the development of relevant procedures to standardise care, implementation and contribute to research relevant to acute Mental Health patients.
  • Participate in ward rounds, meetings and conferences to integrate nutritional care into total patient care including those of the allocated units.
  • Provide an information service pertaining to the dietetic management of Mental Health consumers and acting as a clinical and educational resource for the unit and externally where appropriate

About you:

  • Clinical experience in assessment and management of patients with mental health conditions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that foster trust, confidence and co-operation at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to foster team member participation in decision making and change processes that results in improved outcomes.
  • Excellent skills in problem solving, decision making, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
