Join our Emergency Team in an exciting newly created role at Flinders Medical Centre!

The Nurse Consultant - Emergency Research Coordinator leads and supports emergency clinical research within the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network. Reporting to the Emergency Medical and Nursing Directors, this role combines clinical expertise with research leadership to ensure high-quality, safe, and ethical emergency research. The Coordinator works closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to improve patient outcomes, promote best practices, and enhance awareness of emergency research.

Duties for the role: 

  • Lead and coordinate emergency clinical research projects and trials.
  • Manage research activities including protocol review, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure participant safety and compliance with clinical trial protocols and ethical standards (ICH GCP, NHMRC).
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives using clinical data and audit results.
  • Provide education and mentorship to staff on emergency research practices.
  • Collaborate with research services, clinicians, and stakeholders to support emergency research goals.
  • Maintain accountability for research education, quality projects, and fostering a positive work culture.

About you:

  • Must be a registered nurse with at least 3 years post-registration experience, including proven competence in managing clinical research trials and delivering high-quality, safe patient care.
  • Strong leadership abilities, including communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and the capacity to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and foster staff development.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Clinical Trial Governance Frameworks, NHMRC ethical guidelines, and National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
  • Ability to provide education and training to staff, consumers, and key stakeholders, alongside leading and promoting consumer engagement initiatives.
  • Proven dedication to quality management, risk management, ethical conduct, diversity, equity, and workplace health and safety in clinical research and healthcare delivery.
