Business Continuity Officer - Protect Patient Care Continuity at SALHN

Join SA Health as a Business Continuity Officer at SALHN, where you will develop and maintain critical emergency response plans that ensure healthcare services continue during disruptions. This full-time, ongoing role offers the opportunity to work with dedicated healthcare teams across southern Adelaide, conducting risk assessments and coordinating training programs that directly impact patient care continuity. 

About the role: 

Reporting to the Director, this role is responsible for contributing to disaster resilience through the effective co-ordination and management of SALHN Business Continuity planning, response training exercises and validation at all SALHN sites. Furthermore, the position is accountable to the SALHN Director, SALHN Disaster Resilience Unit for the provision of support, policy advice, research, development and implementation of business continuity and resource outage plans and procedures. 

Duties for the role will include:

  • Assisting with the establishment of systems that enables the collection, analysis and reporting of data that contributes to the effective and safe management of business continuity and resource outage planning,
  • Identifying and assessing potential risks in relation to business continuity and resource outage planning, and recommending and developing strategies to minimise or eliminate risks,
  • Assisting with the development of audit programs including participating in audits to ensure compliance with business continuity and resource outage planning,
  • Developing, reviewing and maintaining procedures and guidelines that contribute to the best practice management,
  • Being an active participant on Disaster Resilience Committees including participating in exercises and initiatives conducted by these committees,
  • Conducting and scheduling exercises for business continuity exercises across SALHN sites,
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of hazardous materials management programs

  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with a diverse range of stakeholders using a variety of strategies,
  • Interpersonal skills which foster the trust and cooperation of others,
  • Ability to work as an effective member of a multi-disciplinary team,
  • Ability to analyse problems and data and provide accurate and appropriate findings,
  • Ability to prioritise workloads, work autonomously and achieve deadlines,
  • Demonstrated experience in the field of Business Continuity and Emergency Management,
  • Experience in the management and coordination of executive committees,
  • Experience in the facilitation of desktop, discussion and practical disaster-based exercises
