About the role

As a Specialist Calibration Engineer / Specialist Calibration Engineering Technician, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the safe, accurate and reliable performance of biomedical equipment and instrumentation across SA Pathology. Working as part of a skilled, multi-disciplinary team, you will undertake calibration, planned and remedial maintenance, and in-service inspections in line with manufacturer recommendations, Australian Standards and Engineering Services policies. Your work will directly contribute to the delivery of quality healthcare by supporting clinicians and ensuring patient safety.

This is a dynamic and hands-on role where you will apply your specialist technical knowledge while contributing to continuous improvement activities and best practice outcomes. You’ll also have the opportunity to support the development of junior staff through training and mentoring, while expanding your own expertise in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment. By combining technical precision with innovation, you’ll help strengthen SA Pathology’s reputation for excellence in healthcare technology support.

You are a skilled and adaptable professional who combines technical expertise with strong communication and problem-solving skills. With the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, you are committed to delivering safe, reliable and high-quality calibration services in a healthcare environment.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Strong communication and liaison skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.

  • Proven experience in complex equipment maintenance, diagnostics, and technical problem-solving within safety-critical environments.

  • Extensive knowledge of NATA and Australian Standards for calibration, asset integrity testing, and biomedical systems.

  • A track record of driving continuous improvement, contributing to technical projects, and applying best practice in biomedical device support.
