Associate Nurse Unit Manager – Support Leadership and Deliver Quality Care

Step into a leadership role where you’ll support the delivery of high-quality nursing and midwifery services while guiding and developing staff within your team. This is a rewarding opportunity to strengthen your clinical expertise and leadership skills in a supportive and professional environment.

About the Role:

The Associate Nurse Unit Manager provides nursing and/or midwifery services across a variety of healthcare settings, working as a competent to proficient practitioner. You will accept accountability for your own practice standards, the activities you delegate to others, and for supporting the guidance and development of less experienced staff.

In this role, you will work closely with the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager to promote continuity and consistency of care and assist in the implementation of practice changes. You will also contribute to ward, unit or service management responsibilities, including recruitment, staffing, rostering, leave management, performance processes, work allocation and attendance management. In addition, you will support financial and supplies planning and monitoring to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.

This position offers the opportunity to enhance your leadership skills while continuing to provide direct clinical care. By supporting both staff and management, you will play a key role in maintaining high standards of nursing and midwifery practice and in fostering a positive workplace culture.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years post registration experience or currently classified as a Clinical Nurse/Midwife.
  • Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice.
  • Experience in the supervision of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses.
