About the Role

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Nurse Consultant to join our dedicated cancer care team and lead the coordination of the CAN Connect service. In this highly rewarding role, you'll provide expert nursing care and clinical guidance to patients living with cancer, supporting them through every stage of their journey. Working closely with the broader cancer team, you’ll engage with patients via phone, telehealth, and face-to-face, assessing their needs and determining the most appropriate care pathway—whether that’s linking them with their treating clinician, arranging a ward admission, or referring them to another service. Your ability to provide timely and empathetic care will make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families.

This is a leadership role for someone ready to make a real impact. You’ll bring your advanced clinical knowledge and passion for quality cancer care to support and guide nursing staff across CALHN’s Cancer program. With a high level of autonomy, you’ll not only deliver exceptional nursing care but also contribute to service improvement initiatives, lead projects, and provide expert advice to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients. If you’re a collaborative, forward-thinking professional with a strong commitment to excellence in cancer care, we’d love to hear from you.

About You

You are a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse with strong clinical leadership skills and a passion for delivering high-quality, patient-centred cancer care. You thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment and are committed to innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.

  • Registered Nurse with a current (or eligible) practising certificate and a minimum of 3 years' post-registration experience

  • Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills with proven ability to lead change and support team development

  • Experienced in cancer care or a relevant clinical area, with a sound understanding of safety, quality and professional standards

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads, engage consumers, and foster a positive, high-performing team culture
