About the Role

As an Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM), you’ll play a key leadership role in supporting the Nurse Unit Manager and guiding a dedicated team of mental health nurses. Working collaboratively with colleagues, you’ll ensure the delivery of consistent, high-quality, and recovery-focused care for consumers with complex needs. Your role will involve assisting with team management activities such as rostering, recruitment, performance development, and implementing best-practice changes that enhance the consumer experience and strengthen service delivery.

You’ll combine your clinical expertise with a compassionate and person-centred approach to provide direct and comprehensive nursing care, education, and counselling that promotes optimal health and recovery outcomes. As a valued mentor, you’ll support and develop less experienced staff, contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives, and participate in research and policy development within the service. About You

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate mental health nurse with strong leadership abilities and a commitment to delivering high-quality, recovery-focused care. You are a motivated team player who thrives in dynamic healthcare settings and supports the professional development of others.

  • Registered Nurse with a Graduate Diploma (or equivalent) in Mental Health Nursing, with extensive experience in complex mental health care.

  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and change management skills, with the ability to guide and support nursing teams.

  • Experienced in multidisciplinary collaboration, supervising staff and students, and fostering a positive workplace culture.

  • Sound knowledge of contemporary mental health practice, legislation, quality improvement, consumer-centred care, and the recovery framework.
