About the Role

As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in supporting consumers within community mental health services through high-quality, evidence-based care. Working as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team, you will deliver a range of clinical services including care planning, psychosocial assessments, and clinical reviews in alignment with CALHN’s Clinical Business Rules. Your expertise will guide person-centred interventions that enhance independence, wellbeing, and community participation for individuals experiencing mental illness or psychosocial disability.

In this rewarding and dynamic role, you will contribute to service excellence by providing leadership, professional supervision, and discipline-specific consultation to colleagues and students. You will work collaboratively with consumers, families, carers, and key stakeholders across government and non-government sectors to ensure coordinated, recovery-focused care. As a clinical leader, you will help shape best practice within the mental health service, fostering continuous improvement and supporting a culture of compassion, inclusion, and professional growth.

About You

You are a dedicated and experienced Occupational Therapist with a passion for supporting people living with mental illness to achieve recovery, independence, and improved quality of life. You bring a strong clinical foundation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead, mentor, and inspire others within a multidisciplinary setting. With a commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous learning, you take pride in delivering compassionate, person-centred care that empowers consumers to reach their goals.

  • Professional Expertise: Hold a recognised degree and registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia, with proven experience delivering high-quality, recovery-oriented mental health services.

  • Clinical Excellence: Skilled in comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessments, care planning, crisis intervention, and the delivery of evidence-based individual and group occupational therapy interventions.

  • Leadership & Supervision: Demonstrate strong clinical leadership, providing guidance and professional supervision to occupational therapists and students within a multidisciplinary environment.

  • Knowledge & Collaboration: Possess deep understanding of mental health systems, rehabilitation principles, and relevant legislation, with the ability to translate research and evidence into best practice.
