About the role

As a Technical Officer, you will play an important role in supporting laboratory and technical operations through the application of your practical knowledge and hands-on skills. Working either independently or as part of a collaborative team, you will contribute to the smooth delivery of technical services by performing a variety of duties that rely on precision, attention to detail, and sound technical understanding. Your work will directly support scientific, diagnostic, or research outcomes, helping ensure the continued delivery of high-quality services.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to build your technical expertise while participating in a range of projects and activities that promote learning and professional growth. You will use standardised practices and procedures to perform your duties, while also contributing your own initiative and problem-solving skills to enhance efficiency and accuracy. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Qualifications and Technical Knowledge – Hold a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a recognised laboratory qualification, with a solid understanding of laboratory principles, scientific concepts, and Work Health and Safety requirements.

  • Teamwork and Communication – Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and maintain confidentiality in a professional setting.

  • Organisation and Initiative – Proven ability to prioritise tasks, manage variable workloads, and meet deadlines while working under limited supervision.

  • Laboratory and Technical Skills – Experience in laboratory operations with sound numerical, computer, and problem-solving skills, along with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
