About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to step into a pivotal leadership position as Manager Cancer and Palliative Care Services, providing high-level strategic and operational direction across regional South Australia.

Reporting to the Chief Clinical Advisor, this role is responsible for shaping the future of cancer and palliative care services delivered by the Rural Support Service (RSS). With a strong focus on clinical governance, safety, quality and innovation, you will oversee statewide planning, service development, and the integration of best-practice models of care.

This role is ideal for a dynamic and values-driven leader with a background in healthcare and a passion for improving outcomes for patients, families, and communities. Working across diverse regional settings, you’ll foster strong partnerships, champion inclusivity, and ensure care that is safe, person-centred, and sustainable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-level strategic and operational leadership in the delivery of cancer and palliative care services across regional South Australia.
  • Drive improvements in clinical governance, safety, quality, service innovation, and workforce capability.
  • Build effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including regional LHNs, clinicians, consumers, and community groups.
  • Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams to deliver excellence in care, aligned with statewide frameworks and organisational priorities.

  • Do you have demonstrated expertise in clinical governance, service development, or project leadership within a healthcare setting?

About RSS

The RSS is a business unit in SA Health and provides services throughout regional South Australia to support the six regional local health networks (LHNs). It employs around 260 people who work in 37 regional, rural and remote SA locations, or in the RSS’s three Adelaide offices. Many RSS staff enjoy working from home or remotely and benefit from the work-life balance this provides.
