This Associate Nurse Unit Manager position offers the opportunity to lead clinical workplace health and safety initiatives at one of South Australia's premier healthcare facilities. You will guide nursing teams in maintaining the highest safety standards while developing policies that protect both staff and patients across Flinders Medical Centre. About the role: 

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, you will lead clinical workplace health and safety initiatives, ensuring nursing teams maintain the highest safety standards while protecting both staff and patients.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Responsible for  Implementing , coordinating and providing a range of interventions and strategies to support a safe environment in the areas of
    • Immunisation for Health Care Workers
    • Infectious Disease exposure prevention and management
    • Prevention and management of Blood and Body Fluid Exposures
    • Dermatitis and Latex allergy
    • Health Surveillance.
  • Participation in outbreak investigations and the coordination of intervention strategies.
  • Involvement in purchasing and/or trials of new products or medical equipment.
  • Providing health education and counselling to improve the health outcomes of individual patients/clients or groups.
  • Supporting existing local quality improvement systems such as incident management and risk register

About you:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,
  • Effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills,
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate the change process,
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team and use personal skills which foster trust, respect and cooperation,
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet set timelines whilst working under minimal supervision,
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years post registration experience or currently classified as an Associate Clinical Services Coordinator /Midwife,
  • Demonstrated competence in the area of infection prevention and control in accordance with the appropriate professional standards of practice,
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning and delivery of adult education
