Hospital Flow Manager

Lead, Coordinate, and Optimise Patient Flow Across Mount Gambier and District Health Service

Are you an experienced and proactive nursing leader with a passion for improving patient care and operational efficiency? We are seeking a motivated Hospital Flow Manager to join our dedicated team at Mount Gambier & District Health Service.

In this pivotal role, you will oversee and coordinate patient flow throughout the hospital, ensuring safe, timely, and effective care delivery. You will work closely with Nurse/Midwife Unit Managers, the Executive Team, and multidisciplinary clinicians to manage demand, optimise bed utilisation, and support high-quality patient outcomes across the Limestone Coast Local Health Network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with nursing, medical, and allied health teams to support patient flow and facilitate the patient journey.
  • Utilise clinical knowledge to assist Nurse/Midwife Unit Managers and Directors of Nursing in staffing, resource management, and risk management processes.
  • Accept accountability for nursing/midwifery management practices and contribute to a positive work culture focused on patient outcomes.
  • Oversee staffing allocation, operational management of patient flow, and address significant events in consultation with the executive on call

Salary

  • RN/RM3 $125,183 - $130,779 p.a (pro rata) + Superannuation + Leave Loading + Salary Sacrifice Benefits 
  • Permanent part time position working 16 hours per fortnight, over a 5 day roster 

Who We’re Looking For:

We're seeking an experienced Nurse/Midwife who thrives in dynamic environments and brings strong leadership and decision-making skills

  • Registration (or eligibility) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and a current practising certificate.
  • Minimum three years’ post-registration experience, with demonstrated skill in bed management and hospital coordination.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Experience mentoring and supporting staff, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
  • Working knowledge of patient administration systems, capacity management tools, and relevant WHS and risk management principles.
