About the role: 

Reporting to the Advanced Divisional Nursing Director, this role is responsible for the line management, coordination and leadership of nursing activities to achieve continuity and quality of patient care and outcomes.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Ensure the effective management of human, financial and physical assets through appropriate planning and allocation of resources to achieve agreed Ward and strategic plans,
  • Provide the pivotal leadership and co-ordination of patient care delivery in Ward 5D to achieve continuity and quality of patient care and outcomes and efficient patient flow,
  • Use available information systems: to inform decision making, to implement and co-ordinate processes for quality improvement, to monitor and analyse incidents and accidents, to ensure quality and safety is not compromised, to evaluate outcomes and convey information to staff,
  • Provides leadership and direction, acts as a role model, mentor, consultant and resource person

About you:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,
  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills,
  • Demonstrated competence in acute surgical nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards,
  • Experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses
