The Claims Officer will work under supervision to provide equitable, timely and effective claims management, maintaining a portfolio of low risk, short term cases.

The Claims Officer will be responsible for the processing and timely payment of workers compensation accounts and accurate data entry through the Self Insurance Management System (SIMS) which will comprise of entry for new claims, invoice expenses, income maintenance and, injury management contact details

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Process and assess workers' compensation claims in accordance with the Return to Work Act 2014, including preparation of correspondence and maintenance of accurate case documentation
  • Calculate notional weekly earnings and ensure prompt authorised payment of income maintenance and medical accounts while maintaining legislative compliance
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with injury management teams, managers, employees and external stakeholders to deliver effective claims services
  • Maintain the SIMS database for injury management, process lump sum payments, and ensure confidential handling of all claimant information and documentation
  • Monitor claims outcomes and workflows, providing timely reporting to Claims Consultants and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide high-level customer service by responding promptly to enquiries, implementing best practice claims management processes, and supporting team operations including leave coverage
