SA Pathology Regional Services – Wallaroo

Are you passionate about delivering reliable, high-quality diagnostic pathology services? SA Pathology Regional Services is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technical Officer to join our team in the beautiful coastal town of Wallaroo.

About the Role:

As a vital member of our regional pathology service, you will contribute to a wide range of laboratory tasks including routine testing in Microbiology, Haematology, Clinical Chemistry, and Transfusion Medicine. You will ensure accurate and timely processing of patient specimens, assist with specimen collection, maintain quality control standards, and support continuous quality improvement initiatives under the guidance of senior staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine diagnostic testing across multiple laboratory disciplines
  • Receive and check specimen identity in line with laboratory protocols
  • Collect patient specimens, including venepuncture and paediatric collections
  • Prepare and dispatch samples for analysis, including to external laboratories
  • Review and report test results within defined quality and time standards
  • Analyze quality control materials and manage abnormal results appropriately
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and assist with housekeeping duties
  • Participate in quality management activities, audits, and implementation of new procedures
  • Uphold workplace health and safety practices and report risks or incidents promptly
  • Collaborate with senior staff to resolve technical issues and mitigate risks
  • Complete all mandatory training, including emergency procedures
