About the role

In this role, you’ll provide leadership and coordination across WCHN, overseeing bed capacity, staffing and patient flow to ensure safe, efficient hospital operations. You’ll be working closely with Nurse/Midwife Unit Managers, Nursing Directors and the executive on-call to deliver high-quality patient care and workforce outcomes.

Key duties of the role

  • Oversee hospital-wide bed management and staffing allocation to optimise patient flow and service capacity
  • Coordinate patient access to emergency and inpatient care, ensuring timely and safe transfer or discharge
  • Lead and manage responses to critical incidents and significant operational events across the network
  • Support improvement initiatives to strengthen safety, quality, and workforce efficiency
  • Collaborate with executives and senior clinicians to deliver integrated, patient-focused operational outcomes

Skills and experience

  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with current practising certificate and eligibility with NMBA
  • Minimum 5 years’ post-registration experience, including leadership or management at RN/M3 level or higher
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through change, manage complex projects and make informed decisions
  • Advanced communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence across teams
  • Sound understanding of healthcare systems, quality improvement, and relevant legislation
