About the Role

Join our caring and dedicated team as a Patient Assistant Officer, where you’ll play a vital role in supporting patients who may be experiencing confusion, disorientation, or behaviours that place them at risk. In this rewarding role, you’ll provide compassionate, person-centred care to help ensure patients’ safety, comfort, and wellbeing while maintaining a calm and supportive environment within our healthcare setting.

Working closely with Registered Nurses and the Nurse Unit Manager, you’ll follow tailored care plans and collaborate with nursing staff to provide consistent support to patients across various areas. You may assist multiple patients throughout your shift, observing and reporting on their wellbeing, and ensuring clear and accurate handovers between team members. Your care, attentiveness, and professionalism will make a meaningful difference in the daily lives of patients and their families.

About You:

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated individual who demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to provide high-quality, person-centred care in a healthcare setting.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with patients, families, and colleagues while maintaining confidentiality.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, utilising technology effectively to document and communicate patient care.

  • Demonstrated experience in providing care in accordance with healthcare standards, ensuring patient safety, dignity, and comfort.

  • Solid understanding of person and family-centred care, relevant legislation, codes of conduct, competency standards, and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
