About the Role

As a Ward Clerk at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, you’ll play a vital part in supporting the smooth running of our South 1 inpatient ward. Working closely with nursing and medical staff, you’ll provide efficient administrative support that helps ensure the highest quality of care for our patients. From processing admissions and discharges to maintaining accurate patient records, your attention to detail and friendly manner will make a real difference in the daily operations of the ward.

In this busy and rewarding role, you’ll be the friendly face that greets patients and families, offering reassurance and assistance during their hospital stay. You’ll also manage stock supplies, handle enquiries, and support the coordination of patient care activities. If you’re organised, approachable and thrive in a team environment where every day brings variety and purpose, we’d love to have you join our dedicated South 1 team at TQEH.

About You

You’re an organised and approachable professional who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment. With strong communication skills and a commitment to exceptional patient service, you take pride in supporting both patients and staff through efficient and compassionate administrative care.

  • Strong communicator and team player – able to engage effectively with patients, families, and a multidisciplinary team, both in person and over the phone.

  • Highly organised and adaptable – skilled at managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and maintaining accuracy under pressure.

  • Technically proficient – experienced with Microsoft Office, administrative systems, and comfortable learning new processes and technology.

  • Service-oriented and resilient – demonstrates empathy, professionalism, and confidence when handling challenging situations and changing demands.
