About the service

The Barossa Hills Fleurieu LHN encompasses three sub-regions including Gawler and the Barossa, the Adelaide Hills, and Southern Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island sub-regions. The SA Pharmacy team throughout Barossa Hills Fleurieu LHN is welcoming and supportive, and the LHN is an exciting place to work due to population growth, associated developments and service expansion. 

Mt Barker Hospital is located centrally within the Adelaide Hills, and services a growing population for which a new hospital is currently under development. The existing hospital includes an Emergency Department, 23 inpatient beds with general medicine, some surgical patients and palliative care., as well as a Chemotherapy infusion unit and Renal Dialysis.

Our new extended service to Gumeracha and Mt Pleasant hospitals is provided by a combination of remote and on-site clinical services. In 2026, Mt Barker will participate in the CAReMed Study evaluating the impact of Partnered Pharmacist Medication Prescribing in a Regional hospital. It’s an exciting time to be involved in BHFLHN!

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacist to provide high-quality, comprehensive and cost-effective pharmacy services in BHFLHN. The role provides clinical pharmacy services to inpatients of Mt Barker District Soldiers Memorial Hospital and with the existing team, supports the pharmacy team via a combination of remote and on-site services at other BHFLHN hospitals. In this role, you will play a vital part in optimising drug therapy and medication management, ensuring patients receive safe and effective treatment and continuity of medication management on discharge. You will provide expert drug and therapeutic advice to medical, nursing, and allied health professionals, and contribute to a range of clinical and counselling services, supporting best practices in medication use. You will also work closely with professional and non-professional staff to enhance patient care and improve overall health outcomes. 

The Pharmacist reports to the Regional Lead Pharmacist, supports the local pharmacy team and demonstrates an ability to work collaboratively in the pharmacy and multidisciplinary team, exercising professional judgement and applying clinical knowledge.

About you

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Pharmacist who is passionate about delivering high-quality pharmacy services in a hospital setting. To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Strong Communication & Interpersonal Skills - Excellent written and verbal communication, public relations skills, and the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team while also taking initiative when working independently.
  • Technical Expertise & Organisational Skills - High level of attention to detail, accuracy, efficient organisation skills, excellence in medication management and patient counselling.
  • Knowledge of Pharmacy Legislation & Best Practices - A solid understanding of clinical pharmacy practice, patient counselling, and medicines information in line with relevant Pharmacy Acts and legislation.
  • Experience & Adaptability - Experience in hospital pharmacy, clinical pharmacy services with the flexibility and resilience to be able to adapt to change.
