About the Role

As a Clinical Nurse at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, you’ll play a key role in supporting weekend discharge planning to ensure patients transition safely and smoothly from hospital to home. Working collaboratively with both Medical and Nursing teams, you’ll provide expert discharge pathway advice and coordinate community-based referrals for patients ready to leave hospital over the weekend. You’ll also take the lead at daily huddles on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, helping identify and facilitate timely discharges while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety and patient-centred care.

About You

You’re a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. With strong clinical expertise and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality patient care, you’re ready to take the next step in your nursing career and make a meaningful impact on weekend discharge planning at TQEH.

  • Qualified and experienced – registered or eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, with at least 3 years’ post-registration experience or currently classified as a Clinical Nurse.

  • Strong communicator and team player – skilled in communication, problem-solving, negotiation and working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Organised and adaptable – able to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and work independently while remaining flexible in a changing environment.

  • Knowledgeable and professional – well-versed in nursing standards, legislation, quality improvement systems and contemporary healthcare practices.
