The Port Augusta Hospital and Regional Health Service is a large regional hospital that provides a wide range of services including emergency, general and surgical, maternity, outpatient, and outreach services. The hospital has 58 beds including flex and monitored beds. The Port Augusta Hospital also has chemotherapy services and has a Renal Dialysis Unit and a Paediatric Department, both of which are the largest outside of Adelaide. Our staff work in close partnership with community health services and Aboriginal health providers, to ensure that optimum care is delivered to all areas of the community. About the Role:

As an Associate Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager, you will provide expert clinical leadership and support to nurses and midwives across a variety of health service settings. You’ll take accountability for your own practice standards, mentor and guide less experienced staff, and help foster a culture of excellence and collaboration.

In this role, you will support the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager in implementing practice improvements, managing staffing and operational needs, and ensuring continuity and consistency of care. You’ll also contribute to performance management, recruitment, rostering, and resource planning to help maintain a positive, efficient, and patient-focused environment.

About You:

  • Promote continuity and consistency of care in collaboration with the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager or equivalent of the ward/unit/service.
  • Provide shift by shift leadership in the provision of nursing/midwifery care within a team or unit and facilitate patient flow.
  • Act as a resource person within an area based on knowledge, experience and skills.
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years post registration experience or currently classified as a Clinical Nurse/Midwife.
  • Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice.
  • Experience in the supervision of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses.

  • This is a part time vacancy, working 64 hours per fortnight and salary will be adjusted according to actual hours worked.
