About the role

The Senior Occupational Therapist provides expert clinical care and leadership within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), supporting children, adolescents, and families with complex mental health challenges. They lead a multidisciplinary team, supervise staff, and drive improvements in service quality and client outcomes.

This position is based in the Southern Country Team, with primary location for a Senior OT needed in the Riverland. Preference will be given to candidates located in the Riverland otherwise, regular travel to the Riverland will be required.

Key duties of the role

  • Provide expert clinical interventions and assessments for children and adolescents with mental health issues, applying a range of therapeutic approaches and independent decision-making.
  • Develop internal and external partnerships to optimize client outcomes, leveraging occupational therapy expertise in a multidisciplinary context.
  • Lead individual, family, and group therapies, and monitor care plans to ensure quality client outcomes.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff, co-working on complex cases and contributing to multidisciplinary clinical discussions.

Skills and Experience

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Australia.
  • Communicate and work with other professionals, facilitate group functions, and work as a team member.
  • Work with a high degree of responsibility with limited supervision and direction.
  • Extensive clinical experience in the delivery of mental health occupational therapy services to children and adolescents, with advanced clinical experience in the delivery of at least one clinical modality relevant to Child and Adolescent Mental Health
  • Advanced knowledge in at least one area of clinical practice relevant to Child and Adolescent Mental Health
