About the role

The Manager, Health Information Services leads the strategic direction of Medical Records, EMR Scanning, Corporate Records, FOI/ROI and Patient Registration. You’ll provide expert advice on health information management and drive ongoing optimisation of the EMR across WCHN.

Key duties of the role

  • Monitor departmental budgets and performance; assist with annual budget preparation and service planning in line with hospital objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and manage policies, procedures, and systems to ensure high-quality, accurate health information and integrated service delivery.
  • Oversee coordination and integration of services across departments, ensuring alignment with hospital standards and patient needs.
  • Ensure compliance with confidentiality, EEO, OH&S, and accreditation standards (NSQHSS) through ongoing planning, policy implementation, and staff management.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and high-performing work environment through effective leadership, staff development, and adherence to legal and hospital frameworks.

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage change, and ensure workplace safety in line with WHS legislation and risk management standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proven effectiveness in stakeholder engagement, liaison, and information management.
  • High-level organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or in teams under pressure, meeting deadlines and delivering outcomes.
  • Extensive experience in records and health information management, including system development, project coordination, business improvement, and administrative support.
  • In-depth knowledge of health records principles, departmental policies, and procedures across administration, finance, and HR.
