About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced surgical clinical pharmacist to gain an ongoing position within the CALHN Pharmacy Department.  The Senior Pharmacist - Surgical may rotate across all CALHN sites as a member of the Surgical Clinical Pharmacy teams, supported by the respective Team Leader and Deputy Director.

As the Senior Pharmacist - Surgical, you will lead the effective organisation, management and daily operation of a designated pharmacy area, playing a key role in delivering a comprehensive and high-quality pharmacy service. You will apply advanced clinical expertise and independent professional judgement to support safe, efficient and evidence-based medication management for patients, while providing trusted medicines information and therapeutic advice to medical, nursing and allied health staff. Your work will support optimal clinical outcomes and enhance the quality use of medicines across the service.

You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, contribute to service improvements and uphold the highest standards of professional practice in line with hospital policies, regulatory requirements and pharmacy standards. With a focus on patient-centred care, safety and cost-effective practice, you will help foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in pharmaceutical care. This role is ideal for an experienced pharmacist seeking to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic clinical environment while supporting the ongoing development of pharmacy services.

You are an experienced and motivated pharmacist committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in a fast-paced hospital environment. With strong clinical judgement, excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach, you excel in leading pharmacy services, supporting staff and contributing to safe, effective and innovative medication practices. You take pride in your ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and foster excellence in a multidisciplinary team.

In this role, you will bring:

  • Qualifications & Registration
    Bachelor of Pharmacy (or equivalent) and current or eligible registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.

  • Clinical & Analytical Capability
    Extensive hospital pharmacy experience, with strong research, data analysis and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work accurately under pressure.

  • Leadership & Collaboration
    Demonstrated supervisory or management experience, with the ability to lead, educate and support staff while working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Professional Knowledge & Standards
    High level of technical competence in pharmacy practice, supported by comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy standards, codes of practice and safe medication principles.
