About the role

As an Interventional Radiology (IR) Fellow, you will play a key role in supporting and advancing the delivery of world-class interventional radiology and vascular services within the Radiology Department at the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH). Under the guidance of Consultant Interventional Radiologists, you will gain specialist experience and training in a broad range of interventional radiology procedures, including endovascular interventions, CT and fluoroscopic-guided non-vascular techniques, percutaneous liver procedures, nephrostomy insertion and abscess drainage. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with Interventional Neuro-Radiologists, contributing to a highly specialised and innovative clinical environment.

This fellowship offers an exceptional opportunity for professional development within a multidisciplinary team, combining hands-on procedural work with research, teaching and diagnostic reporting. You will participate in clinical meetings, tutorials, and multidisciplinary case discussions, while undertaking research and quality improvement projects relevant to interventional radiology. As part of the role, you will contribute to the education of registrars and medical students and participate in the department’s on-call roster, including evening and weekend coverage. This position provides a rich and rewarding training experience for a radiologist seeking to expand their expertise and leadership in interventional radiology within a premier teaching hospital.

You are an accomplished and motivated radiologist with advanced clinical expertise, strong leadership skills and a commitment to delivering the highest standards of patient care. You demonstrate excellence in diagnostic imaging and interventional procedures, supported by a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary teamwork, teaching and research. With a proactive mindset and a focus on continuous improvement, you are dedicated to advancing medical imaging practice and contributing to the success of a leading clinical department.

In this role, you will bring:

  • Qualifications & Registration
    Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, with specialist qualifications and current registration as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration. Medical practitioners who have passed all components of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) Clinical Radiology Part 2 examinations and have successfully completed at least four years of accredited practical training in Clinical Radiology are allowed to apply.

  • Clinical Expertise & Professional Excellence
    Broad experience in radiology, including CT, MRI, ultrasound and procedural work, complemented by high clinical standards, integrity and a strong commitment to patient care.

  • Leadership, Supervision & Collaboration
    Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, supervise junior staff, contribute to teaching and research, and participate effectively in clinical and multidisciplinary meetings.

  • Knowledge & Continuous Improvement
    In-depth understanding of medical imaging principles, quality and safety frameworks, and health leadership practices, with a focus on innovation, adaptability and service improvement.
