About the role: 

Reporting to the Director, this role is responsible for providing high quality advanced Prosthetic and Orthotic assessment, service planning, and direct clinical service provision as appropriate for clients who access Orthotics and Prosthetics South Australia (OPSA) and associated clinics.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Delivering high standards of client care in prosthetics and orthotics and lead P&O health care professionals in education/training of such areas,
  • Providing assessment and best prosthetic/orthotic intervention; formulate treatment objectives and treatment plans for clients with complex pathologies,
  • Ensure high standards of care in speciality area is provided to clients throughout SALHN and other networks,
  • Provide a consultancy service within OPSA, and to other health professionals within SALHN and other external agencies on assessment, delivery, and long-term management of such clients in area of expertise,
  • Ensuring ongoing development of high-quality Orthotic services within OPSA, in consultation with the Director, OPSA

About you:

  • Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics, or equivalent,
  • Eligible for membership to Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association,
  • Demonstrated ability to ensure the provision and promotion of high quality, efficient and effective Prosthetic and Orthotic services,
  • Excellent communication skills– both written and oral,
  • Business administration exposure relating to O&P practises for all funding bodies, patient advocacy and supplier liaison,
  • Proven level of expertise in, prosthetics and orthotics, with skill specialisation preferred in Osseointegration prosthetics, neuro-muscular orthotics and / or transfemoral prosthetics,
  • Demonstrated experience in all aspects of service delivery relating to prosthetics and orthotics clinical and technical,
  • Demonstrated experience in leading clinicians, mentoring and professional supervision
  • High level clinical and technical skills pertaining to Orthotics & Prosthetics, ability to coach and instruct other clinical and technical team members,
  • Highly developed communication skills, representing O&P professional at seminars, conferences and conducting in-service presentations,
  • Ability to network and maintain relationships with consumers and families, key referrers, stakeholders, and O&P professional groups
