About the Roles

As part of CALHN’s Mental Health Clinical Program, you’ll provide compassionate, evidence-based care to support consumers on their journey to wellbeing.

Whether joining as a Registered Nurse (RN1) or a Clinical Nurse (RN2), you’ll work within a multidisciplinary team delivering comprehensive nursing care, case management, education, counselling and group programs—helping consumers achieve their recovery goals.

Our Clinical Nurses also take on leadership and mentoring responsibilities, contributing to teaching, research and service improvement initiatives. Both roles offer the opportunity to grow your professional capability, expand your influence and be part of a values-driven team providing safe, connected and compassionate care every day.

About You

You’re a dedicated and empathetic mental health nurse who thrives in a collaborative, consumer-focused environment. You bring strong clinical knowledge, sound judgement and a passion for making a difference—no matter where you are in your career.

Registered Nurse (RN1):

  • Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia and hold (or be working toward) a qualification in Mental Health Nursing
  • Demonstrated competence in assessment, care planning, intervention and evaluation within mental health settings
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a commitment to consumer and carer participation
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

 Clinical Nurse (RN2):

  • Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia and hold a Graduate Diploma (or equivalent) in Mental Health Nursing
  • Minimum of three years’ post-registration experience, with expertise in managing complex mental health needs
  • Proven leadership, mentoring and change-management skills
  • Highly developed problem-solving, communication and time-management abilities
