About the Role

As the Resident Medical Practitioner/Registrar at the Adelaide Sexual Health Centre, you will play a key role in providing high-quality clinical care to patients presenting with sexually transmissible diseases and related conditions. Working collaboratively with Consultants, Registrars, Nurses, and Allied Health professionals, you will manage the assessment, treatment, and follow-up of patients while contributing to education and Continuous Quality Improvement activities that enhance clinical outcomes and service delivery.

The Adelaide Sexual Health Centre forms a vital part of the South Australian STD Control Program, leading statewide efforts to reduce the impact of sexually transmissible diseases through innovative clinical practice, training, research, and epidemiological surveillance. In this role, you will be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team that prioritises patient care, supports staff development, and promotes best-practice public health initiatives. About You

You are a dedicated and compassionate medical professional with a genuine commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. With a strong clinical foundation and a collaborative approach, you bring excellent communication, problem-solving, and procedural skills that support effective treatment and positive patient experiences within a multidisciplinary environment.

  • Educational/Vocational Qualifications – Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, with current general registration (or eligibility for registration) as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia.

  • Personal Abilities/Aptitudes/Skills – Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to demonstrate empathy, work effectively under pressure, and maintain high standards of care. Strong teamwork, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities, with a commitment to continuous quality improvement.

  • Experience – Clinical experience in one or more areas relevant to sexually transmissible disease (STD) services, alongside involvement in quality improvement initiatives and multidisciplinary care environments.

  • Knowledge – Sound understanding of contemporary medical practices, investigations, and treatments appropriate to the role, supported by knowledge of Work Health & Safety principles and procedures.
