About the role

Provide proficient nursing/midwifery care while supporting the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager in clinical leadership and unit operations. Lead shift-by-shift care delivery, support practice change, and guide less experienced staff. Work closely with AN/MUM peers, multidisciplinary teams, and key stakeholders to ensure safe, consistent care.

Key duties of the role

  • Deliver person-centred nursing/midwifery care and oversee daily care outcomes
  • Lead teams on shift and support patient flow and care coordination
  • Support the AN/MUM with staffing, rostering, performance, and unit operations
  • Contribute to practice change, quality improvement, and service planning
  • Mentor staff and students and promote a positive learning culture

Skills and Experience

  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with AHPRA registration and mental health qualification or enrolment
  • Minimum 3 years post-registration experience or current Clinical Nurse/Midwife classification
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervision experience in a clinical setting
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
  • Experience delivering safe care aligned with NSQHS Standards
