The position of Emergency Services Support Officer is responsible for providing a level of clinical care and make patient assessments within their agreed scope of clinical practice and responding to requests for low acuity care and specialised transportation of patients within their allocated responsibilities.
 
Applicants must be employed as SAAS PTS Ambulance Officer and hold an authority to practice as a PTS Ambulance Officer.
Open to staff who hold an ATP in HLT41120 Certificate IV in Health Care.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assess, treat and provide patient care within clinical scope, applying appropriate treatment pathways and monitoring during transport to achieve positive clinical outcomes
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments including medical history, observations and diagnostic tests to formulate provisional diagnoses for treatment decisions
  • Maintain clinical competencies and authority to practice through ongoing professional development, workshops and assessments as required by SA Ambulance Service
  • Manage resources effectively including vehicles, medical equipment and supplies while ensuring compliance with performance standards and safe transport to appropriate health facilities
  • Establish professional relationships with healthcare stakeholders including hospital and nursing home staff, while providing mentorship to less experienced colleagues and students
  • Comply with occupational health and safety requirements, follow safe work procedures, report hazards promptly and participate in counter disaster activities and emergency response training
