About the role

Provide nursing/midwifery care within a health service setting while developing from novice to proficient practice. Deliver safe, accountable care, maintain professional standards, and work collaboratively with senior clinicians and multidisciplinary teams. The Clinical Nurse (RN/M2C) role at this level continues to be predominantly clinical in nature; however, employees are assigned appropriate portfolios

Key duties of the role

  • Assess patient/client needs and plan person-centred care
  • Deliver safe nursing/midwifery care on a shift-by-shift basis
  • Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams and external services
  • Support patient safety through quality and risk improvement
  • Guide students and less experienced staff in clinical practice

Additional key duties - RN/M2C

  • Oversee care delivery within a team or unit and monitor outcomes
  • Support the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager with service delivery and change
  • Contribute to protocols, audits, projects, and incident reviews

Skills and Experience

  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with current AHPRA practicing certificate
  • Enrolled in or holds qualification in mental health practice
  • Apply clinical knowledge to deliver safe, person-centred care
  • Work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and prioritise workload
  • Demonstrate effective communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution

Additional Skills - RN/M2C

  • Minimum 3 years post-registration experience in nursing/midwifery
  • Lead and supervise students, enrolled nurses, and less experienced staff
