Join Our Team as a Direct Care Attendant (Community) – Support Independence and Quality of Life at Home

Make a meaningful difference by helping older people, frail clients, and those living with disability remain safe, comfortable, and independent in their own homes. As a Direct Care Attendant (Community), you’ll provide hands-on support that enhances daily living while working as a valued member of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

About the Role:

As the Direct Care Worker - Community, you will deliver personalised, in-home assistance to clients who wish to stay living in their own homes with support. Reporting to the Coordinator and working closely with Community Health professionals, you’ll contribute to high-quality client care through tasks such as personal hygiene support, mobility assistance, continence care, meal and laundry support, equipment cleaning, and maintaining a safe, tidy environment. You will also assist with routine treatments, provide input into client assessments, support medication self-administration, and help meet the needs of clients with special care requirements.

You’ll play an important role in the smooth operation of the service by working effectively within a multidisciplinary team, upholding high standards of communication, professionalism, and person-centred care. Ongoing training will support you to maintain the knowledge and skills required for the role.

In addition, you will contribute to a safe, inclusive, and high-quality workplace by following organisational policies and procedures, maintaining confidentiality, participating in quality improvement and accreditation activities, practising cultural sensitivity, supporting risk management processes, and adhering to food safety, infection control, and record-keeping standards. Your commitment to customer service, continuous improvement, and professional development helps ensure excellent care for every client.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in exercising own judgment and initiative in the day-to-day execution of a position.
  • Experience in the use of computer packages e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel.

Applicant Information

This is a part time vacancy, working 60 hours per fortnight and salary will be adjusted according to actual hours worked.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and appropriate immunisation requirements:

  • DHS National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Check
  • National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving unsupervised contact with vulnerable groups required for this position (E.g. aged care employment or work involving vulnerable clients)
  • Immunisation Risk for this position is - Category A
