About the role

As the Nurse Manager – Flow Coordinator, you’ll play a vital leadership role in supporting mental health nursing practice through effective bed management, risk management processes, and accreditation activities across our services. Drawing on your clinical expertise, you will help shape safe, efficient and consistent patient flow by coordinating daily operations and developing systems that support 24-hour service delivery. Working closely with clinical and management teams across Central Adelaide Mental Health inpatient units, emergency departments and community services, you’ll be central in ensuring patients receive timely, high-quality care.

In this role, you will hold accountability for nursing management outcomes, addressing gaps between practice and policy, and strengthening a positive, safe and supportive workplace culture. You may provide management support to specific wards, portfolios or programs, and lead initiatives, projects and service improvements aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and care experience. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to system-wide improvements while supporting teams to deliver their best work every day.

About You

You’re an experienced mental health nursing leader who brings compassion, clarity and confidence to complex environments, with the ability to guide teams, support safe patient flow and strengthen high-quality care across services. You thrive in multidisciplinary settings, value collaboration, and are committed to delivering person-centred, culturally responsive care.

You will bring:

  • Current nursing registration plus postgraduate mental health qualifications, ensuring a strong clinical foundation and commitment to best practice.

  • Proven leadership capability, with strengths in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and guiding teams through change.

  • Extensive mental health experience, including clinical practice, multidisciplinary collaboration, consumer and carer engagement, and supervision of staff.

  • Sound knowledge of mental health legislation, safety standards and bed-flow processes, with confidence using relevant systems and applying quality improvement principles.
