About the role

As the Senior Pharmacy Technician Service Coordinator, you will take a central leadership role in ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, efficient and patient-focused pharmacy service. You will coordinate and support a team of pharmacy assistants and technicians, intern pharmacists and training pharmacists within your designated area, ensuring workloads are prioritised effectively and services are delivered in a timely and professional manner. You will act as a key point of contact for staff, students and consumers, helping to maintain smooth day-to-day operations and a positive team environment.

Working under the general direction of the Pharmacist responsible for the area, you will oversee practice reviews, staff performance and development, and contribute to the creation, review and teaching of workplace policies and procedures. You will also manage a varied and complex workload, represent the department on hospital and SA Pharmacy committees, and support Pharmacy Manager(s) in delivering safe, cost-effective drug therapy that leads to optimal patient outcomes. You are an experienced and motivated pharmacy professional who thrives in leadership roles and takes pride in supporting high-quality, efficient and safe pharmacy services. With strong organisational capability, excellent communication skills and a commitment to continuous improvement, you bring the confidence and technical expertise needed to guide teams, develop training resources and contribute to service excellence in a dynamic healthcare environment.

  • Educational/Vocational Qualifications – Relevant Certificate IV or higher (e.g. Project Management Practice, Leadership and Management, Business Administration), as outlined in the Role Description.

  • Personal Abilities/Aptitudes/Skills – Strong leadership, teaching and organisational skills; excellent written communication; effective teamwork and independent working capability; adaptability, attention to detail, sound arithmetic ability, manual dexterity, and strong customer service skills; ability to develop procedures and support safe work practices.

  • Experience – Extensive hospital pharmacy experience with demonstrated leadership or supervisory responsibility, coaching and mentoring, training development, report writing, service improvement through gap analysis, and proficiency with pharmacy management software, spreadsheets and electronic systems.

  • Knowledge – Solid understanding of pharmaceutical products, medical terminology, pharmacy dispensing methods, the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, and relevant pharmacy legislation and regulations
